When I was a Boy, my family had a table lamp. It was red and with a pink frilled lampshade. It never worked particularly well as a lamp, but I always liked the optical effect in the glass. It was probably made somewhere in a local company because the neighbours had the same lamp but green.
I have just finished an artist residency at CGW and my friend Nick Doran Adams helped me to blow these tulip vases. A design that never worked as a lamp can always get a new life as a functional vase model.
